I met my sister in Bradford and we caught a train to Blackburn which is only about an hour’s journey. When we arrived in Blackburn we went to the Shopping Mall first as I had to get a new strap for my SWATCH Watch, a jewellers in Bradford the day before said there was a shop in Blackburn where I could get one. We then took a taxi to our hotel as it was a few miles away, got sorted went for a bite to eat and then got a taxi to the theatre. We arrived there just before 7 and had a drink at the bar. We were chatting to some people and I heard one of the guys that work there tell someone he just arrived and realised they were talking about Gareth, then a little while later a gentleman came out and made an announcements saying sorry they were running late because Gareth had just arrived because there had been a big hold up on the M62 and he was now doing a sound check but they were still waiting for Pete who was stuck on the M6 coming up from London. About 8 o’clock we went in and took our seats and I saw Ann & Pete (lovely to see you guys) then Pete came on stage setting up and before too long ………. Gareth appeared OMG he looked amazing. His first song was “Sunshine” and he sounded amazing … and so beautiful.
Gareth sang 5 new songs, 2 I haven’t heard before (but I have recorded) and Stay, Hold on Tight and Free. Gareth also sung Unchained Melody, AOU, AOMS, Can’t Believe It’s Over, Suspicious Minds, Heaven, Summer of 69, Your Sex Is On Fire, Livin On A Prayer, and a song I haven’t heard before but I don’t think it was a new song as Gareth and Pete didn’t introduce it as one of their new songs, I have a short clip so hopefully someone will know it. Gareth famished with SITS and then did Don’t Stop Me Now as an encore.
The crowd loved him and Pete too, they did two 45 minute sets with a short interval it was an amazing gig but as always over too soon..
Afterwards Gareth did a signing like at Bingley where he signed Posters to raise money for his Speech Charity, as I was queuing I saw Paul and had a chat with him, he thanked me for coming, I said it’s a pleasure and he said how sorry they were for arriving late and they felt bad making us wait, I told him I didn’t mind at all, Gareth is worth waiting for, I said he’s amazing and Paul said “ahh thank you” I was at the back of the queue as I had something for Gareth so waited for him to see everyone first , it must have been about half an hour before I got to see Gareth but I didn’t mind, I had had a lovely chat to Paul.
Now it was my turn … Gareth was a sweetheart, he gave me a lovely hug wrote a little message on my poster and I had a little chat and had a photo. Then went to say Goodbye to Ann & Pete and got chatting to Paul again, we eventually all left as they were throwing us out the theatre to close up.
What an amazing evening …I am still on a high.
I took some photos I will upload them and post them tomorrow
