And another report and pic, who can spot Gareth? love Carol xxx St Albans City Centre sparkles at Christmas lights switch-on with Gareth Gates 5:30pm Tuesday 19th November 2013 in News Photograph of the Author By Rebecca Perring, Reporter Thousands braved the cold weather on Sunday to watch pop star Gareth Gates turn on St Albans' Christmas lights. Almost 6,000 visitors sung "We wish you a merry Christmas" as snowflakes and glitter filled the skies of St Peter's Street. The Pop Idol finalist, who is playing Prince Charming in Cinderella at the Alban Arena from Friday, December 6, was joined by fellow pantomime stars and St Albans Mayor Annie Brewster. For the very first time, the city’s Clock Tower was illuminated by festive lights paid for by St Albans Civic Society and St Albans Architectural and Archaeology Society, which were keen to get into the Christmas spirit. The mayor said: "It was wonderful to see so many people flocking to the city centre for an afternoon of entertainment, culminating in the Christmas lights switch-on. "I want to thank Gareth Gates, who is starring in Cinderella at the Alban Arena, for joining me on stage to switch on the amazing lights. They have certainly brought some Christmas cheer to the City centre." The Christmas lights switch-on was a culmination of an afternoon of entertainment which attracted around 10,000 visitors to the city. Attachments:
