Thanks so much H. Here is the interview in full. Gareth has said he prefers performing in musical theatre every night than being a Pop Star. I just want him to do what he is happy with, and I can understand that being a Pop Star involves lots of interviews. I think we have the best of both worlds, cos Gareth does gigs,( but doesn't have the pressure of worrying if he will make no1 with each record, ) and he also does musical theatre. I think we are very lucky that he is so versatile. love carol xxx Gareth Gates returns to Wimbledon for a one-night only event at New Wimbledon Theatre on 19 July. Along with other West End talents, he will be delighting audiences with musical theatre favourites. Songs will feature from beloved musicals such as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Wicked, West Side Story, Joseph, and other classics. Rachael Wooding and Jonathan Ansell, as well as other West End alumni, will also be taking the stage. ‘I’ve sung on a show with Daniel Boys before’ says Gareth . ‘It’s a real privilege performing with such great voices, the cast is really talented’. Complementing this all-star cast will be a live orchestra creating a truly immersive atmosphere for the audience. Gareth is looking forward to singing the songs he knows and loves, including a special rendition of For Good from Wicked. Originally sung by the two female leads Glinda and Eliphaba, For Good will be performed here by a male and female – an undoubtedly original arrangement sure to delight. I asked Gareth if he felt more pressure to perform well at Momentous Musicals, as it is a one-time event, versus a long running show. ‘I’m more excited than nervous. With a long running show there’s more to learn; this has more of a concert vibe.’ Gareth has had plenty of experience with concerts of course. I wondered how he felt about the shift he’s made from the pop world to musical theatre. ‘Being a pop star is lots more of the other things like the interviews, the appearances – as opposed to performing every night which I like more.’ It sounds like a busy life! Gareth, fresh from performing in Loserville, is already preparing for his next show Legally Blonde, which is premiering the same week as Momentous Musicals. So it’s no surprise that when I asked him if he’ll be doing anything special after the show, he told me he’s simply planning a couple of drinks and some well-earned rest. The show promises to be a fun and light-hearted celebration that will appeal to musical theatre aficionados and Gareth Gates fans alike. Make sure to book your tickets early for this one-night-only event. 7.30pm 19 July, tickets £22 The Broadway, SW19 1QG 0844 412 4642 www.atgtickets.com/venues/new-wimbledon-theatre/Attachments:
