Gareth Gates is starring in Loserville at the West Yorkshire Playhouse next week. Published on Wednesday 13 June 2012 10:00 POP fans are looking forward to the opening of new British musical Loserville at the West Yorkshire Playhouse on Monday. Written by former Busted member James Bourne and Elliot Davis and starring Bradford-born Pop Idol star Gareth Gates the show is a musical mash-up about dating, binary and staying true to your dreams. Aaron Sidwell takes on the role of the super-smart geek Michael Dork who with a little help from his friends Lucas (Richard Lowe), Francis (Lil’ Chris) and the beautiful and brainy Holly (Eliza Hope Bennett) is about to revolutionise the world - as long as Gareth Gates’ have-it-all rich-kid Eddie doesn’t screw it all up for them. And then there’s Leia (Charlotte Harwood), the most popular girl in school. Steven Dexter directs this new original musical inspired by the album Welcome to Loserville by Son of Dork, which was the band James Bourne joined after Busted broke up. The musician and songwriter has penned seven number one hit songs, had numerous top three singles, and played to sold out arenas across the UK. As an artist and songwriter it is estimated James has sold over six million records and has for other artists including McFly, The Saturdays, Jonas Brothers and Pixie Lott. The show’s star Gareth Gates, 27, who shot to fame a decade ago as the runner up to Will Young in the UK’s first Pop Idol, has himself sold 3.5 million records and had four number one singles. Loserville, a co-production between West Yorkshire Playhouse, Kevin Wallace for First Act! Limited and Youth Music Theatre UK, runs at the Playhouse from Monday, June 18 until July 14. Tickets are available now by calling the box office on 0113 2137700 or by going to www.wyp.org.ukAttachments:
