On the 25 July, 12.30 – 2pm at Unit 6, the Corn Exchange, Manchester, West End star Gareth Gates and youth movement somewhereto_ invites you to witness the launch of an exciting and energising movement which is sweeping the nation and revolutionising the high street.
somewhereto_ re:store [the high street heist] is a youth led high street takeover of five disused shop spaces across the UK this summer. The campaign will showcase young people’s ideas to the crisis at the core of our communities and give them the chance to inject their natural energy, ideas and entrepreneurialism into our struggling high streets.Gareth Gates image
Gareth Gates – currently starring in the show spectacular Momentous Musicals – is the celebrity supporter of the creative campaign which is set to impact and inspire young people of Manchester.
Gareth Gates said: “I am thrilled to be part of such a worthy cause which has been inspiring young people nationwide.
“The empty high street is a huge issue in the UK at the moment and I believe somewhereto_ re:store is the perfect remedy to bring it back to life. I look forward to opening the somewhereto_ re:store in Manchester and witnessing all the young talent and potential somewhereto_ has to offer.”
As part of the Manchester launch young international fashion designer Paul Griffiths, creator of the alternative clothing line Babycakes, will be bringing his imaginative bold pop art to life. 24-year-old musician Joss Owen and his band ‘J Bear and the Giants’ will keep the crowd dancing with their powerful funk and soul. The bright minds of Makers Dozen, a team of new and upcoming Manchester based designers, will exhibit a range of disciplines including furniture, lighting, ceramics and jewellery. And finally, rallying up some somewhereto_ spirit will be Salford Sirens from the University of Salford who will literally kick-start the event with high kicks and cheers
