Former Pop Idol winner Gareth Gates was among the celebrities at a Sheffield casino’s first anniversary bash.
Gareth joined Mark Labbett - better known as The Beast from ITV’s The Chase - to celebrate the Genting Club’s first birthday.
The Bradford singer and songwriter performed some of his singles to around 1,000 guests to mark the occasion.
The club, in St Paul’s Place, was opened last October by Olympic heptathlete Jessica Ennis.
General manager Kath Barton said: “We really hit the jackpot with Gareth Gates and The Beast.
“The event was a huge success.
“We wanted to stage a party night that would give something back to our loyal customers while showcasing the casino to potential customers, and we did just that in great style.”
During the night, the casino held a number of competitions - and Dorothy Abbot, from Eckington, got lucky when she won £1,000 worth of Genting Reward Points.
Husband and wife Christakis and Susan Lazari, from Chesterfield, picked up the second and third prizes of £500 and £250 respectively.
The club has a special showcase planned for next Wednesday, October 23, when more than 20 solo artists and bands will perform live at the venue.
