I don't suppose any of you could forget, but tonight is the night that Gareth and his group will feature properly on the Big Re-Union. ITV at 9pm Can you put your feedback in here afterwards, every opinion is valued, and we would love to hear what you thought of the show, and Gareth's involvement. love Carol xxx

Write-up about Gareth's latest magazine shoot love Carol xxx Pop Idol heartthrob Gareth whipped off his clothes for the magazine in what looks like a cinema – although we're pretty sure that sort of behaviour would have you booted out of your local omniplex and possibly arrested. Covering his manhood with one hand and propping himself up against a red velvet chair, this smouldering snap was clearly taken several years after Gareth's Unchained Melody heyday – there's way too little gel in his spiky hair for that. A mature shot like this may change the minds of Big Reunion fans who can only recall Gareth stammering through Idol auditions or crooning classics in a gleaming white suit Attachments:

I am looking forward to seeing Gareth & 5th Story tonight and hope we will soon hear them sing. Is anyone going to the concert tiomorrow, it was roo short notice for me to book trains etc they were too expensive. I don't understand the article and I don't know what will be said on Big Reunion tonight or future weeks but generally they are saying people remember him from Pop Idol and he had a few hits and now he's back. The people who wrote the article aren't aware that was a charity shoot for testicular cancer and was at the Adelphi while Gareth was n Joseph ... we will have to wait and see what happens tonight ...

Great episode tonight hearing everyone story, getting to know their background and getting to know them.
I am so proud of Gareth opening up like that, it can't of been easy for him and he tweeted that it was hard to watch. Bless him.
I thought they were all really nice guys BUT Gareth is something else, what has that man got that makes him so special ... love him so much.
Love June x

Just got home, but managed to see the Big Re-Union. I feel sorry for all of those young men the way they suffered in the name of fame. I was particularly impressed at Gareth's honesty in admitting the mistakes he made in the past. It is not an easy thing to open up like that, especially when you are normally such a private person about your life. His courage is an inspiration to me, nobody can say they have never told a lie, none of us are perfect, or can pass judgement on others, but the Press does, and he was given such a hard time about it. Maybe now it can be laid to rest, and people can see the amazing young man he has become. I am sorry to confuse you June, that bit was part of an article about 5th Story, but I only copied and pasted the part about Gareth, it was just them reflecting that the 17 year old Pop Idol had blossomed into a very fit young man. love Carol xxx

Thank you for starting this thread Carol I think Gareth did very well tonight, it can't be easy to tell the world you told a lie, and that it did affect your career, especially if you have a stammer. Speaking as a bloke, I think it was blown out of all proportion. Neither of them wrecked anyone's marriage, neither did they rape, steal or murder anyone. Gareth told a lie, so what? It must be awful having your whole life paraded around the media. It's the man he is now that counts, not the teenager that was suddenly propelled into stardom. It sounds like all those guys suffered from the fame game, and then the fallout, we must be grateful that Gareth didn't go down the road of drugs and alcoholism. love H xx

Thanks Carol for this thread I enjoyed the show tonight it must of been hard for Gareth to open up like that and say how it effected his career, so he told a lie none of us are perfect am sure everyone has told a lie in their lifetime but with Gareth being in the public eye it certainly must of been hard for him to keep going and put it behind him, he's a strong person and has his family to support him It was interesting to hear the background of the other guys in the band too, felt really sorry for some of them and the road they ended up taking. Really looking forward to hearing the band sing together.
love Andrea xx

Yes, I agree Carol, that this time it was a fair write up from the Mail. Feel better having read your comments on here, as I felt a bit questioning about the piece on Gareth last night. I agree, it was amazing honesty and I fully admire that in him, but felt the show could have balanced that a bit more with some of the positive things he has done over the years especially for charity with such a giving attitude. The blessing is that with past mistakes, Gareth never lets that stop him moving on and being optimistic about the things he is doing. Just hope that the viewers who don't know him so well, see the other side of Gareth's story, maybe as the weeks go by that side will show itself. Really hope the Hammersmith show will go really well for 5th Story. I like all the guys in there but there is the one that tops the lot. See June's comments, lol !

Hi Sue, I think they may have mentioned Adam's charity work because they are trying to show that he does good now that he has recovered from bulimia. Gareth usually likes to keep his charity work out of the Press, so he may have asked them not to mention it. If you compare all the stories, Gareth's is quite tame in comparison to the others, what he did was probably what any 17 year old would have done, but it was all done in the pubic eye. That is the only past he has really, although they did mention a lot about his success. Next week we might actually get to hear them sing, I am excited. love Carol xxx

I AGREE WITH ALL YOUR COMMENTS AND YOU ONLY HAVE TO LOOK AT GARETH'S FACE IN THE MAIL ON LINE ARTICLE THAT CAROL KINDLY POSTED, TO SEE HOW DEEP HIS FEELINGS GO ABOUT THE PAST . HIS HONESTY IS TO BE GREATLY ADMIRED AND TO SPEAK OF HIS MARRAGE BREAK UP MUST HAVE BEEN SO VERY HARD FOR GARETH, ESPECIALY AS HE IS SUCH A PRIVATE PERSON.
. .WHAT A LOVELY AND SUPPORTIVE FAMILY GARETH HAS AND I TTHINK THAT HAS MADE A BIG DIFERENCE TO HOW HE HAS COPED WITH EVERYTHING.GARETH HAS MADE MISTAKES, BUT HE IS ONLY HUMAN AND STILL SO DOWN TO EARTH AND THATS WHY WE LOVE HIM.

I think they had to all have the same coverage and thats why they couldn't go too much into Gareth's past career I don't mean the early years I mean what he has done in recent years. Adam had his problems before his fame and the other lads had theirs when their careers ended. Gareth's early music career was badly affect with the whole Jordan thing but after some time away he came back and has achieved so much since. The other lads may want to relaunch their careers, Gareth has a career but would like to relaunch himself as an artist again. I was a little disappointed when they said Gareth has dabbled in Musical Theatre and tried Dancing on Ice as if none of them came to anything.. DOI was never meant to be a permanent but he made a huge impact in Musical Theatre and also as am Instructor on the McGuire Programme amongst other things, but if they had covered all these and everything else the other lads would still be waiting for their turn I can't wait to hear them sing especially with Gareth leading Thanks for the link Carol I shall read it in a bit Love June x

Although they said Gareth had "dabbled", one of the lads, I think it was Kavanagh commented that whilst he is doing holiday camp singing, there is Gareth on a top rated ITV ice show, and he felt embarrassed and couldn't match that. or words to that effect, so people can already see that Gareth is still in the public eye, but just not as a recording artiste. The best way we can all help Gareth IMO is to keep tweeting about his new album, my tweets also go onto my FB page, and when I have 5 minutes to spare, I intend to write a blog about it too. We need to help him get into the charts again, the CD is not expensive, so almost anyone can afford it I am sure, even if they buy it for a present for someone else. This album may well be a feeler to decide whether he releases an album of new songs, so he really needs all the fan support there is. love Carol xxx

I am hoping people will buy the album for the new tracks, and then hopefully want more. If we can get that across to people, yes its The Very Best of Gareth Gates from the past BUT ITS ALSO GOT THREE BEAUTIFUL NEW TRACKS. There are a couple of strange comments on FB about it one lady said he wasn't out that long and another he hasn't had enough songs. I didn't comment because you can't comment on a comment and there were several good ones following. Its a shame he couldn't of added Changes & AOMS but there with another record label. Altogether Gareth had 10 hits 5 of which were No.1 thats not bad for someone who wasn't out that long. If Gareth could of added the other 2 songs he could of had A Greatest Hits with 10 tracks.
Love June x
