Hi Girls
This is my 3rd attempt to create this thread 1st attempt 3 am 2nd attempt 6am this morning, both times I clicked to preview my report and it disappeared, so if anyone finds a report floating around this site please let me know.I was on my ipad so must have hit a wrong part of the screen.Well it's just gone 10pm and I have come up to use my trusty PC which I have rarely used since acquiring my ipad 12 months ago.So 3rd time lucky I hope.
Friday was a lovely day weather wise just what you want for a good night out. Altho Gareth tweeted it was freezing ,I mean 13c and sunny that's tropical up here.
We parked the car at Pelaw Metro station 6.30pm and took the tube to Newcastle Central. After a 15 min walk we reached the Metro Radio Arena. Got seated approx. 7.25 the warm up act was already on and had the audience in fits of laughter. Was a very boisterous and a real party atmosphere.I could see my Daughter Kim and her fellow Selby lower down they booked a few weeks after us in block 111 rink side 4 rows up 1st level was a lot closer than me and hubby block 210, right facing the front of the rink so good seats 1st row on 2 level but a long way from the judges who were sat right at the back of the rink and I had forgotten my binocs argh!!!
Must have been approx. 7.45pm when the lights dimmed and the professional skaters appeared with a fast routine carrying lighted sticks, it looked wonderful looking down from where we were sitting.
The first half was based on the tv show, with each contestant being introduced by Jane and Chris. It seemed an age before Gareth and Bry came on. Chris mentioned to Gareth that he had been here before and Gareth answered 'Yes,' Chris asked if he was gonna give us a song to which Gareth replied. "Oh No! No! No" "Maybe later",
Cheers ensued. Gareth looked gorgeous I won't mention any routines ,don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone going later. He was right at the front of the rink waiting for the music to start I was trying to pick up courage to shout,"come on Gareth" when a very loud voice behind me shouted the very words and Gareth just beamed. But he was fantastic got 25.5 pints out of thirty from the judges. He was 4th or 5th on the leader board
Suzanne slipped and ended up sitting on the ice she put her arms out and Matt just scooped her up as quick as a wink. Beth also slipped and missed some steps so they both lost marks.I thought the judging was far more accurate than on tv. The celebs were all fab, costumes, skating and all. Gareth didn't put a foot /skate wrong he had a big smile on his face, really enjoying the banter from The crowds.
The interval came and the voting commenced guess what!!!! I was having trouble with my phone talk about panic I wanted to just keep voting but in the end I just managed 5 votes, got to be grateful for small mercies tho I suppose. It was 50p per vote the money goes to Charities. Never mind cause the votes were announced as the 2nd half started and Gareth's vote had held up well he came 4th with Kieran, Hayley and Ray left standing. So he did himself proud. Suzanne was the first one off so came last. Of course Ray won. Gareth did another routine in the 2nd half again won't say what but I loved his outfit he looked absolutely gorgeous. The professionals were fantastic did a beautiful routine in the 2nd half but you will have to wait and see also quite an emotional part in there as well. All in all the show was everything I expected it to be ,Wonderful!! the only critism for me was in the 1st half. The tv montage of them on the tv show shown prior to the celebs being announced I felt was a bit to long I would rather it had been shorter to allow more skating by the professionals. Will be interesting to read what others think, Of course this is just my personal opinion
The show finished at 10pm and kim on meeting back up with us, likes Gareth and is always interested in what he is doing but is not a die hard fan like me and my other daughter Sue. She was well impressed with him she blurted out, Gareth's skating was fantastic, Says she could see all the expressions on his face as she was close to the stage and he was skating right passed her.Could have knocked me down with feather lol.But they really enjoyed the show as well, her fellow Selby, has always admired Gareth and they have been to see him in his musicals.
we had to dash back for the tube so didn't get to see Gareth after the show, sob!!!
