Great interview in which Gareth talks about 5th Story amongst other things.

Gareth Gates has admitted he was worried that joining up with other pop stars to form Big Reunion band 5th Story could have gone horribly wrong – but he was pleasantly surprised by how well they all gelled, despite a few admitted “sticky moments”.
The Spirit in the Sky singer joined up with Dane Bowers from Another Level and Kenzie from Blazin’ Squad, as well as fellow solo stars Adam Rickitt and Kavana, to form the ‘supergroup’, featured in the show about 90s and noughties stars who are having a second go at making it big in the charts.
And to Gareth’s relief, being in a band was a lot more fun than he anticipated.
“I was a bit worried about the band being put together like that. You never really know what they’re going to be like so we were all surprised we got on very well, and our voices blend well together. It’s a really funny experience," he told STV's Gill Harvey.
Referring to the well-publicised drama surrounding Kavana’s behaviour, which included the I Can Make You Feel Good singer storming off in a drunken rage, Gareth added: “There were a few sticky moments with Kavana, but he’s a lovely guy.
“I’ve known Dane for years, we’ve been mates for a long time , Kenzie’s a lovely guy he’s great, and Adam’s the nicest guy you could ever met. We all get on well.”

Gareth and the boys will hit the road on in October and November as part of the Big Reunion tour, which comes to Glasgow’s Hydro arena on October 25, and he thinks the show will be a must-see for pop fans.
“The band’s been fun, we’ve had some great times with it and I think the tour is going to be amazing.”
Asked if he thinks 5th Story will stand the test of time, Gareth added: “I think it’s down to if people want that it, if there’s public demand for the band we’ll continue and make an album, and if not we’ll continue what we do [ourselves].”

As well as taking part in The Big Reunion, at the beginning of 2014 Gareth strapped his ice skates back on for a second time, as he joined fellow former Dancing on Ice stars for the ‘all stars’ final series, before hitting the road on a tour round the UK.
“It was great to be asked to be involved in the last ever series and doing the last ever tour was a real honour,” he explained.
“The standard was massive with all the champions of each of the shows. It was tough going but I enjoyed the experience.”
And despite the level of talent of the competitors, who included Ray Quinn, Suzanne Shaw and Bonnie Langford, Gareth said he felt less nervous than first time round.
“I felt less pressure than last time for two reasons. First, I knew what to expect this time round. It was nerve-wracking, but not as nerve-wracking.
“The second reason was I knew I wasn’t the best. I was the last person in the competition that hadn’t won their own series, so I was the people’s champion, and so I felt less pressure because I knew I was never going to win. I just enjoyed it.”
As well as his TV projects, Gareth has been starring in a number of theatre shows in the last few years, and he’s also been working on some new music, featured on his latest album, The Very Best of Gareth Gates.
Fans will get a chance to catch Gareth when he embarks on a solo UK tour around the UK in five cities this June, with a stop at Glasgow’s O2 ABC on June 22. Tickets are available from www.livenation.co.uk .
