One time Pop Idol runner-up and stage star Gareth Gates will perform at The Mill Arts Centre for one night only next month, as part of his current UK tour.
Though the tour consists mainly of playing larger venues, the special acoustic evening at The Mill will give the audience the opportunity to hear Gates perform in a more intimate setting.
They will be treated to a series of new songs, in addition to new arrangements of his old hits, with musical accompaniment provided by piano, guitar and percussion.
Gates has been a household name since he appeared on 2002’s Pop Idol, becoming part of one of television’s memorable moments when, as the favourite, he had to stand and watch as Will Young was named the winner.
But he’d won a huge following and went on to release three albums, have four UK number one singles and sell 3.5 million records.
In recent years he made his move into acting, landing the lead role in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in 2009 and treading the boards once again as Marius in the 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables.
Gates was also featured on series two of ITV’s Big Reunion, with the producers putting a number of solo artists together to form a band.
He has spent much of 2014 touring with 5th Story, whose debut appearance in front of an audience was at the Hammersmith Apollo in February.
These latest performances, however, mark Gareth’s return to performing in concert as a solo act.
The concert will take place on Sunday, November 9 at 8pm.
