Not seen Gareth since Boogie Nights so was really looking forward to the show.Set off at 6.30pm Hubby drove us to the tube station was in Ncle in no time it was about a 15 min walk to the Arena. There were hoards of ppl walking the same way could feel the excitement.it was a lovely warm night .no bags checked on entry well there's a first.After sorting our sweets and fizzy drinks we headed for our seats.Just 6 rows back in 2nd block form the stage.Wasnt an empty seat in sight.was a real party atmosphere flashing wigs flashing lights.My17 yr old Granddaughter who has been an ardent fan since she was about 6 rang up and asked if Sue her mum could ring her when Gareth came on so she could here him singing.Well it was pointless couldn't hear for all the screaming.
As soon as the first chord struck everyone was on their feet A1 opened the show with a great start .I thought the lighting effects were impressive the stage seemed to change completely with every group.accompanied by flames and firework like explosions .Loved A5 nifty dancing.Sue my daughter who was with me used to love them .3T Tito Jacksons sons were very good lovely harmony.One of the them just sounded like Michael Jackson obviously the family connection.I always loved Blue it was like the old days they were fantastic and when they sang Sorry in the first half and All Rise in the 2 nd half the crowd went wild.5story were brill I didn't know many of their tracKs just Danes Get Freaky With You,but the crowd were all singing along even too Adam's song
I was amazed it was a good while since all their songs were top of the chart but ppl seemed to know all the words.
Dane did must of the talking for5 Story. but Gareth chipped in a few times and his speech was great he seemed so confident and happy.Quite a nifty little mover when he gets going.He always looks so smart something about the way he carries himsellf didn't see much of the rest of 5Story my eyes just followed Gareth round the stage.I couldn't say who got the loudest reception the crowd were so enthusiastic they were singing ,dancing ,waving lights,and screaming at every dance move on stage and every utterance from the stage.Gareth was waving and blowing kisses to the audience he seemed to be directing them at particular ppl near the front.There was a girl shouting Gareth along from me not that he would hear her.
The only negative comment I have is about Damage.The groups all did a spot in the 1st half and a spot on the 2nd half.When Damage were on 1st half they went on a bit much about the album being no 4 in the charts this week and that they were coming back to Ncle april the 27 next yr.and would love to see us there.Lo and behold their 2nd spot was near the end of the 2nd half it was gone 10.30 and I knew there was 1 more group to go before Gareth and we had arranged our lift for 10.45 at a particular place and you can't hang around in Ncle it's so busy and they were ranting on again about the album being no 4 and how grateful they were to the fans and again about the 02 .and now they had been here before etc.Just thought Gareth has been here umpteen times over the yrs and he is back here in 3 weeks time. And he never mentioned a thing about it.Just the difference.
when Gareth came on for the finale the crowd went wild .He was down the front of the Stage I don't know where he appeared from with the dancers who were dressed in white flimsy outfits obviously to do with his song Spirit in the Sky. It was brill had everyone going wild and Gareth was in his element .The monitors were showing the audience as the cameras moved round and then must have gone back stage. As all the other groups were standing waving arms and singing along then they all appeared on stage alongside Gareth all singing along
As it was the last night of the tour everybody had.come ready for a party and that's what we had.
It was a fantastic night well worth the money
I wasn't aware of any Meet. N Greet but saw a pic posted of one from Ncle so it must have been way before the show started as it was 11pm when the show finished .
Sean ,Sue's partner had luckily found a parking spot so we were off home ,shattered .aching feet tired but very very happy
Looking forward to a more sedate show on 20th Nov and a lot more of Gareth at the Sage,roll on!!!!!
