Hi Folks
Well I had a nice surprise on Thursday when I found I was going to Redditch to See Gareth yay with Trish my friend :0)
I was a bit concerned because she lives very near Lichfield abd the train service ends to there about 11pm and Although the theatre had said that they thought it would end at 10 - 10.15pm it wasn't certain plus neither of us know Redditch or how close it is to a station could we walk were there taxis?
We arrived at the new Grand Central in Birmingham very beautiful but equally confusing we stopped there and had food which was really good then we headed off to the platform bound for Reddich, the journey took about 40 minutes then we had to see how to get to the theatre , it was about a 15 minute walk but we saw a taxi and got that which took 5 minutes. He did say if we needed to get Back to the station to catch the last train for Lichfield at 10.27 we should come out at 10.05pm at the very latest so we could get a taxi or walk if there wasn't one, we knew then that we were going to have to leave come what may but to be there at all was unbelievable so I was grateful for small mercies.
I was so blessed as the seats were front row and I couldn't believe it. The show started at 8 and on they all came a Cosy small group of 3 girls and Michael and our Gareth he looked every bit the star and Micheal paid very clear tribute to that and I sensed he knew there was a lot of love and support of steel in the room for Gareth. I think we were all a bit nervous for him after the vocal issues he has suffered and the recent surgery and I suppose we felt this with him because if we were like this how was he?
We need not have worried he delivered beautiful vocals and the best I have heard in months ,the last time I saw Gareth was at the glee club and he struggled the whole way through and our hearts were breaking for him. Not now his voice was clear and powerful and it never faltered not once the vocal in musical theatre is completely exposed and and any falter would have beamed its message like a becon on the bay, there was no such falter only perfection. He was charismatic and suave when he needed to be, amusing in Half a sixpence as the cheeky cockney and Operatic in the beautiful Why God Why as we walked through Musicals history. This is the perfect way for Gareth to ease back to full vocal strength.
There was a 15 minute interval and I spoke to Maria and Sarah Jane and Hayley and other lovely lovely people supporting Gareth. I wanted pictures but being right in the front I didn't want to get told off and spend the rest of the show in the car park having been ejected lol I did get some though shhhhhh lol
This is a really good show and Gareth is brilliant. We did have leave and miss the end but in the words of the great Elvis " That's how the mop flops"
I will try and add some pictures.
With Love
