Finally success .been trying to login for a couple of nights .I posted the other night but it didn't work.all sorted now thankgoodness.
Must say Oct 4th was a busy day for posting.
Loved your brill report Debbie thanks! And fab pics.Shame you missed the end but 8pm seemed a late start.pleased you enjoyed the show and got back home safely.
All the reviews about the show and Gareth are very positive

Went to see MATM on Wed 7th at The Playhouse Whitley Bay a coastal resort area of Newcastle not seen Gareth since his Tour last Nov so was really excited about going.The Playhouse is about 20/25 mins by car.Sean my daughters partner took me and hubby over we left home at 6.20pm traffic was fine till we got into the middle of Ncle where we came to a standstill.I started to panic when when it got to 7.10pm.The show due to commence at 7.30pm.Sean was very confident as his brother lives in Whitley Bay and he knows the place well.He eventually pulled out and shot down the fast lane then got back in a few miles down the road.I thought it was a good job hubby had decided not to take the car as we would have arrived late as as he wouldn't have taken the risk .We arrived at the theatre 7.25pm no time to get a programme.Our seats were row H centre.
The 5 piece band took their position onstage and the music started.i was still wound up but as far as I remember the 3 girls singers appeared singing a song from Dreamgirls.soon as they started singing it was obvious it was gonna be a great show.Their voices and harmonising was incredible,they had loads of beautiful dress changes throughout the show.Michael Courtney's voice was also an eye opener his rendition of God on High from LM was outstanding could hear a pin drop as was the case when Gareth sang God on High and Empty Chairs.
Gareths voice was strong and assertive.Michael sort of compared the show with a great deal humour not only with Gareth but with the audience as well.Gareth didn't speak a
Lot during the show thought maybe he was looking after the vocal cords.He sang Half a Sixpence and after music form 7 musicals ended the first half with a selection of songs from the
8th one, ' We sWill Rock You.' Gareth finished with the lead song he had everyone doing all the arm actions.He was really loving it and so were the audience.
The 30 min interval gave me a chance to purchase a programme from the foyer and actually look around the auditorium.it holds 1100 patrons.has no upper floors only boxes around the top.The first 4 rows were very close to the stage and weren't being used.Behind them was a gangway then the rows of seats rose very steeply up to the private boxes.The viewing from everywhere in. the auditorium was superb.Never been anywhere like it.It was a lovely theatre.I think it is well supported locally.Gets some really top acts on as well.I was surprised it looked full apart from some vacant seats in the 2 back rows.
Well at 9pm the second half started. With songs from 'Phantom of the Opera' when we got to the 6th musical,'Annie get your Gun' the periodical banter throughout the show from parts of the audience added to the brilliant atmosphere.at one point in the show Michael shouted to the noisier side and said you lot must be Gareth fans and they all cheered.
Michael was singing with one of the female singers 'Anything you can do' at one part the girl appears to stump on Michaels foot and he was supposed to be annoyed,This voice shouts out from the audience very loud and slow "oh what's gonna happen now" at which point the girl and Michael took the giggles Gareth was in the wings and must have been laughing Michael was doubled up over the piano and pointing towards him.Michael regained his composure but the girl struggled till the end of the song.
The only songs I wasn't keen on we're the 2 from 'Jesus Christ Super Star',I haven seen the show but now wouldn't go to see it.would have preferred songs from Joseph loved Gareths songs in that.
Saved the best musical till last,the songs and music were superb,the 5 voices in harmony were absolutely fantastic.not tell everything just Gareth's voice and his rendition of his final song was just was just fantastic!!!!!!!!!
Michael made a speech at the end praising Gareth and saying what a lovely lad he was and he genuinely meant it,then he urged ppl to support this beautiful theatre.
To sum up,Fantastic show all singers were're at the top of their game and were amazing.Gareth's voice is back if not stronger to its best.He looked really happy and confident .Definitely a show to remember !!!!! I would love to see it again.

Just reading thru my report and I must state Gareth did not sing God on High think I meant Why God Why!!!!
Just like to add as well the lighting was fab really gave the show its atmosphere.

Hi Mo and everyone, My first day home, and what a lovely report full of detail you have shared with us. You have made me even more excited, as we are going on Sunday with Ann, Peter, Valerie and Sue. I am sorry you had all that stress with traffic, I can remember on occasions being stuck in traffic, and not wanting to be late to see him. Thank goodness he has the power back in his voice, I think we were all worried for him. The theatre sounds lovely, and one day soon we hope to visit that part of the country. You don't know how excited you have made me now. Did you see Gareth after the show at all. I owe you an email Mo, as soon as I can get straight with washing etc, I will reply to yours. love Carol xxx |

Oh Sinday , that's usually a day off for performers,but a good day to travel.hope all goes well for you all I know you will just love the show and be thrilled with Gareths performance.
No I was disappointed not to see Gareth but not having the car we had to get the Metro train back home.We left the theatre 10.10pm had to walk about 15 mins to the station got the train 10.30. To Ncle changed trains and got to Heworth Interchange at 11.30pm where we caught the last bus 11.45pm.I was freezing sitting in the bus station was cursing to myself by then about not using the car.got home nigh on midnight.
