So sorry this is late, as my feet have not touched the ground since I got home. I have been working all weekend, and also managed to give an interview about my new book whilst I was at Wolverhampton.
We arrived to thick snow, and spent our first day with family, which was lovely. On Thursday we went to Shropshire, and looked around the shops. Later that day we met up with Debs,, its been 2 years since we saw her, and went out for a pub meal and a catchup. I also gave my interview that evening at our hotel.
On Friday we travelled into Wolverhampton, and managed to find a reasonably priced car park for the day. We met up with Debs, and went to Costa. When I saw the calendar she had done I was gobsmacked, the video didn't do it justice, it was really professional, so well done to Debs xx
We got into our seats for the matinee, there was Dee and Andy, with beautiful Joshua, I have wanted to meet him for ages. In front of us sat Maria, Sarahjane and Hayley. I had a chat with Hayley, and complimented SJ and Maria on their colourful Christmas hats. Debs was able to show Hayley and Dee the calendar, it somehow made it real, they have both always supported Gareth by joining in our birthday and Christmas cards for him. It was Debs idea to make a calendar this time, and a very good one.
The show was very colourful and fun, Gareth looked totally comfortable as Jack, lots of panto animals, the usual slapstick fun, and Gareth's voice sounded great when he sang Unchained Melody. I wont say too much about it, don't want to spoil it for anyone going. I will be writing a blog later.
We headed for the stage door with our usual crowd, I guessed Gareth wouldn't be long, as it was between shows. Whilst we were huddled in the doorway, cos it was cold, who should come over to see me but Doris. It must be a good few years since i last saw her, being at Manchester after Gareth did the Valentine Concert. We had a chat, and she told me she is going on the cruise with her friend to see Gareth. how lovely is that! I am so glad she made herself known to me, as I had not spotted her, and I don't know who she was standing with, but whoever they were, we are all Gareth fans, and I am wishing them a Merry Christmas too.
Debs gave Gareth the calendar, and I had slipped a box of Thornton's in from the fans, as I know they are his favourites. We heard later, that he loved the calendar, and was keeping it in a very safe place until he gets home.
He turned towards me, and it was lovely to see him. A hug from Gareth is so special, bless him. I told him I thought the panto was fun, and he agreed, then got a quick picture with him. Keith helped to take some photos for others, and then we left to give the others their turn with him. We had a long journey home, but as always seeing Gareth was well worth the visit.
