Finally got round to writing this after a very busy week of book sales and club talks.
Although the weather is unbelievably warm right now, on Saturday 6th October it was windy and cold. I drove to Narjleeen's house, and left my car there. Jeff very kindly ran us into Ashford. Narjleen is a lovely lady who makes her own jewellery, and I have known her on the craft fair circuit for quite a few years now, and she asked if she could come with me, as she has always wanted to meet Gareth.
We queued outside for a while, I had hoped to wear a skirt and blouse, but like almost everyone else opted for trousers and warm shoes and socks. We saw Sharon and Caitie, Kirsty and her mum, Kimberley and hubby, a lady called Jan Gates, who also came from Herne Bay, and then Ann and Peter arrived. It was lovely to see them both.
Eventually we went in and settled ourselves. The church made a really nice venue, with an arch of blue lights above where Gareth would be performing. The support act came on first, they were locals and had quite a bit of support.
Gareth was given a big build up before he bounced onto the stage, and he had Pete with him, they always gel so well together. I didn't like his suit, but nevertheless he did look smart. I did like his hair style, it was cut really nicely, he was tanned and relaxed, and his speech was perfect. He made a joke when mentioning FIND A VOICE, saying people could learn to speak like he had, and of course we all clapped him.
The set of songs were such a good choice, some of his own, George Michael, Ed Sheeran, etc, and he did them all proud. His voice was strong and clear, his chemistry with the audience as sharp as ever, it was an amazing night. When he invited us up to party, I stood behind Sharon, not expecting him to see me, but he gripped my outstretched hand, and said "Hi Carol, its always great to see you." It made my day!
Later we lined up inside to see him, it was quite a while, and then we all filed through, some people had walked past us and claimed a nearer spot, but I didn't worry, as I knew he would see everyone. But as luck would have it, they had all filed to the left, and we ended up being at the front and seeing him first, which was quite unexpected. I got a hug, a quick photo, and once again he said it was always great to see me. I told him how much I enjoyed the song choices, and went home a very happy bunny. Here is my picture
