We have known about this for a while, but out of respect for Gareth's management, we did not post it up until it was confirmed on the Official Site. We don't aim to be first with the news on here, what we do aim for is to make sure that we don't publish every rumour about where Gareth is or isn't going to be. You would be surprised how much work goes into organising an event like this, and it's only the Official site that knows for sure what and when Gareth is doing something. I do hope some of you are able to go, and share your reports and pics with us. love H xx www.princes-quay.co.uk/

Thanks so much for confirming this H, I did wonder if it was true. How lovely for those that can make it. Both of my sons are coming for the weekend, and my daughter Andrea will be coming on Sunday. If the weather is as nice as today, we will be having our first barbecue of 2012.
I hope other people can get to it. love carol x

Cool.
It's too far fo me to go, but very late notice, so I would have missed out if was local.
As you seem to have the inside information, when was this organised and was there a reason for not telling all fans straight away? It doesn't seem fair to tell some fans and make the rest wait until the last minute.

I really can see how it can look when it seems that fans know about an event before its made official and that could be rather frustrating. When an event is in the pipeline there is a period where it can stay under wraps quite easily because its not gone through enough officially to call it "on" However as soon as it is the jungle drums start to beat and people start talking and the Google alerts start flowing. Until its signed on officially it can be called off at the 11th hour despite the alerts etc because its not properly official yet and it's still still not officially signed on. We have a policy here that unless its been confirmed by Gareth's people then we wont post it regardless of weather we knew or not ! This event has only just been signed out officially signed sealed and delivered. Everything before it is just a rumour until its confirmed. Most of the time the rumour is valid but there are times when the event will fall through leaving everyone confused. In these situations Management wont then say sorry its not on because they never said it was! Events can come up for the taking at such short notice and although we feel we haven't had enough notice its just the way it can happen. it would be madness to turn it down because of it though wouldn't it? Of course. there can be cancelations of confirmed events as well but these will be confirmed and apologised for by Gareths team and you will be sad but you will know where you are. Luv Debbie xxxxx

Sorry, I didn't understand. When HelpingHands said they had known about it for a while, I thought they meant they actually knew officially, not just read a rumour, and were asked by Gareth's management to keep quiet. That seemed unfair, because when I looked at that link, they announced it on Friday.

Whatever the situation is weather it be this one or a new one we as the management team won't publish anything on here unless its been confirmed by Gareth's Team first officially on the OS ;D I hope I am a fairly easy going "Boss Lady" lol but this is one thing I will not compromise on. I wondered if it was true cos I saw it on twitter, also had a google alert. H and Debbie treat everything in strict confidence and are completely honourable. They will share everything Gareth with us at the right time, and if it's true, but recently it was rumoured that Gareth was in Little Voice, and also he was doing a Valentine ball, which turned out to be untrue. They would never confuse the fans, it's not about knowing first, it's about getting it right, and on this site, they do.

Lovely article from a guy who admits he underestimated Gareth 10 years ago.
. My stupid mistake was to write off Gareth's chances .Wednesday, March 14, 2012 Hull Daily Mail Follow.I can spot a winner from a mile off, me.
Back in 2001, when Simon Cowell was just an evil glint in Satan's eye and I was a reporter on a newspaper back in not-so-sunny Bradford, I received a phone call from a local postman.
"My lad's in that Pop Idol thing that's on the telly," he said.
"Do you want to talk to him?"
The son, whose name was Gareth, then came on the line and for the next ten minutes I had one of the most tortuous conversations of my life.
Gareth had a terrible stutter, it transpired, and it took ages to have a chat with him.
Poor lad, I thought. I can't see him getting very far in a singing contest on national TV if he can't talk to a reporter from his hometown paper.
He's kidding himself if he thinks he's going anywhere.
Not being a reality talent show fan, I filed the story and promptly forgot about him.
Well, Gareth turned out to be Gareth Gates, the boy who overcame his stutter, stole the hearts of the nation and ended up coming second to Will Young.
Someone else followed his progress at the paper despite my repeated warnings that he had no chance. I'm an idiot.
Gareth, right, may not be at the top of the charts any more – he's made his millions and probably never has to work again – but will be putting in an appearance at Princes Quay, on Saturday, as part of the centre's Mother's Day celebrations.
Good luck to him. I was wrong once and he taught me not to jump to such easy conclusions.
