Since I became a part of this site, I have learned more and more about Gareth every day. One thing that stands out is the way he has inspired people in their every day life, and not just stammerers.
If any of you have a story to tell about how Gareth has helped you to overcome something, and how knowing him has changed your life, that you are happy to share, we would love to hear about it.

Well I joined this site because I stammer, and I am very shy. I heard about the good work that Gareth has done, and I admire him so much. It has encouraged me to get help with my stammer, and also I feel comfortable posting on here, which is a first for me. Sorry I don't post that often, but I do read the boards. However, I felt I had to respond to this post.

Good on you Gareth. It is lovely how Gareth has inspired so many and not by just helping the stammerer but how he has been so determined to make something of his life inspite of everything, which is encouraging for everyone with all sorts of problems.  |

Gareth has inspired me a lot in my life. I went through a very bad patch with bereavements in my immediate family, and was feeling quite low at the time he was on Pop Idol  . Watching him each week, and seeing his courage made me pick myself up get on with my life again. I was mesmerised by this very talented young man who allowed nothing to prevent him from achieving his dream. Since I have been lucky enough to meet him, I have been even more inspired by everything he does, and continues to do. Gareth has certainly brightened up my life, and through him, I have also made some true friends. ;D love carol xx |

Hello all Gareth fans,
I´m slowly browsing the threads in the forum and have found this one about Gareth influencing our lives. Carol and Gareth, I was moved by your stories posted here, thank you for them.
In my opinion, Gareth is a wonderful role model,l not only for stammerers, but for everyone. He works hard all the time, and anything he does, he does with great determination, he´s responsible and he never lets his fans down. What really affected me is the fact that by watching Gareth succeeding in doing different challenging activities I realized that anything is possible for you if you really want it and that you must never stop trying. I realized how many things I´ve given up during my life just because I didn´t have enough courage or determination or self-control. Seeing this amazing young man singing, coaching, dancing, speaking and even figureskating gives me so much positive energy that I feel I can also achieve some things I´d really love to do one day. BTW, have you also noticed that Gareth is cut out to be a wonderful teacher? You can see it from his attitude and approach to the people in the McGuire programme.
So, this is my opinion on Gareth being a role model and I´d love to read your opinions as well.

What a lovely post Blanka! I agree with what you say about Gareth's example being such encouragement to you. When I am feeling low, or I can't seem to cope with something, I think of what he has achieved in spite of his stammer. Gareth is unique, a one -off, and I doubt I will ever know anyone quite like him again. ;D
