I was very fortunate to be able to go to Boogie Nights again yesterday at the O2 Indigo. Having already been on the first night, I was interested to see if there would be any changes.
June and I met up at London Bridge, then travelled to our hotel, which was near to Royal Victoria tube station. I was pleased with the room, and we had a panoramic view of the Thames, which was lovely with the afternoon sun glinting on it.
We got ready and took the train and bus to O2. It was the first time I had been there, and I was very impressed with it. We found the Indigo, which had security fencing around the entrance, then went to get something to eat.
When we came back Shane was the other side of the fence, doing signings and posing for pictures. He seems a very nice and friendly lad, and he took his time, seeing everyone that was waiting for him.
There was no sign of Gareth, so we asked the photographer, who was near to us, if he was likely to come out. He said he doubted it, as with 16,000 people coming to see Girls Aloud, security wasn't good enough. The photographer then asked if he could take a picture of June and I to go on his website., and we agreed.
When we went inside, we were sitting near the front, but as is became like a party with everyone thronging up to the stage, we joined them. It was wonderful , such a great view of Gareth, and he saw us right away , and acknowledged us.
June is going to describe her take on the show in her report, so I will just say they had changed a few little things. Gareth gets better and better everytime I see him, and was clearly enjoying himself a lot.
I have said before Shane has an ok voice, nothing special but his performance of SORRY IS THE HARDEST WORD was so full of emotion, it moved me very much.
After the show, we went round the side, and saw some fans peeping through a hole in the fence in case they spotted Gareth. Alanna introduced herself and we had a chat. By the time we had come back, 16,000 GA fans were coming from the Arena, so we decided to eat, and then wait for them to go.
After a nice snack and some wine we were feeling very mellow, and thought we would try to get back to our hotel. What a disaster that was, the tube was closed, and we were put on a bus in the wrong direction. We then spent the next 2 hours trying to find our way, none of the bus drivers seemed to know the other side of the river, and we ended up in Woolwich.
That is where June fell down a kerb hurting her foot very badly, and our evening stopped being fun. We found a cab place, and were taken back to the hotel finally arriving at 2am. I was worried that June might not be able to walk at all the next day.
But after some sleep, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in the dining rooom overlooking the river, we felt very spoiled. June was still in pain, but not so badly. We then travelled back to London Bridge, and went our separate ways.
In spite of the drama, we had a wonderful time and a real laugh. Gareth was amazing, and although we didn't get to see him after, we count our blessings for all the other times that we have.
