This was my second visit to Boogie Nights I am so glad I had the opportunity to go twice and delighted Boogie Nights came to Bradford
I woke up to snow on Friday morning, and more worryingly the forecast for the north knowing the cast of Boogie Nights wee in Dundee. I checked the Boogie Nights FB which said keep looking for updates; I was praying they would get to Bradford safely and in time for the show. A few hours later it said at this moment in time the show will be on tonight. Later that afternoon I rang the venue and they confirmed the show was going ahead breathe out We were getting a taxi as my husband was going to visit his aunt, later on in the afternoon it was still snowing and he said the taxi might not get down our road as the show was getting deeper, he said he would drop me off in Bradford, but this meant we had to leave earlier and then we had planned and I wasn’t ready. We left in a bit of a hurry so I quickly grabbed my tickets , money etc got in the car with no jewellery so got out again ( I wasn't popular) then half way there I realised I had forgotten my camera I rang my friend Karen to see if she had set off and her husband said I had just missed her, she had just left I remembered Karen had said that her daughters would like to meet Gareth and have a photo with him so I thought she’ll bring her camera, she didn't she said you always have yours. As we were early we had a drink in the bar, Karen met a lady in the foyer she knew who told us Gareth had been down in the foyer earlier, I thought well as long as Gareth’s here nothing else matters. I bought a programme and we went into take our seats.
We were sat right in the middle on the front row first the warm up guy come on giving away stuff and having a laugh and then he mention Gareth and the academy in Bradford and said Gareth wanted to give something back. Then he introduced the students who were all ages and some really little ones, they sang a medley of ABBA songs and they were fantastic, it was lovely a real treat to watch/listen to them.
Then the show began, I don’t know what they had given the cast before they came on but Andy Abrahams came up to me singing “You Sexy Thing” later Shane Richie approached ne with “If You Think I’m Sexy” and grabbed me to kiss him, Merril Osmond was stood in front of me singing and out of the blue bent down and shook my hand, but YMCA well you must of all seen what Gareth gets up to on the video on You Tube but this time the part of the song when they sing “Go West” and Gareth takes off on his own and then he stands there ripples his muscles WELL he was right in front on me sideways on right low shaking his butt, he stopped looked me in the eye and said “TOUCH IT” OMG!!!!! Well I had to oblige so I gently placed my hand on his butt what happened next I can't remember its a bit of a blur. After pinching myself several times to see if I was actually awake and not dreaming I then tried to concentrate on the rest of the show.
The GatesAcademy students came on again a few times and sang and danced on their own and also with the cast at times they were brilliant , made me smile watching them, they also appeared with Gareth when he sand Spirit In The Sky. They are a very talent bunch Gareth should be proud.
The show as before was excellent great fun loved it from start to finish.
After the show we headed for the stage door and it was snowing Yay there were loads parents waiting to pick up the students Wendy was there calling out names and distributing children to their parents. Andy, Shane, Louisa and Chico came out but after about 40 minutes Gareth still hadn't appeared, his car was parked across the road the lady at the stage door wasn't very friendly and no one seemed to know where Gareth was. We decided just before 11 that Gareth must of gone somewhere as everyone else had left. I headed to the station to get a taxi and Karen went to her car then next minute we heard someone shouting with the noise of the traffic we could here properly, then realised it was Karen she said Gareth was there Jean and I ran back and before I got there Gareth was already in his car with his family I stopped turned to Karen’s daughters and said we're too late we have missed him, the next minute the car door opened and Gareth got out he came to me and gave me a hug I said we thought you must of gone and he said sorry I had a lot to sort out (no need to apologise) we all chatted for a few minutes and I said I have to tell you Vera and I love the track you recorded on the Eric Woolfson’s album and he said it’s a beautiful song, I was just about to go and he said would you like a photo I hadn't got my camera and I wouldn’t of anyway I was so overwhelmed that he had taken the time to come and say hello I didn’t need a photo and I didn't want to hold him up. He gave me another hug and as he got in the car I thanked him for giving up his personal time to see us as he was with his family and Paul who was driving lent forward and said not at all It was a perfect end to a perfect rather eventful evening.
