This article also expresses surprise at Joe getting 7 from Jason. love Carol xxx
Dancing On Ice's final series delivered a shock result in its very first week after Jorgie Porter became one of the first two celebrities to be voted off the show.
The Hollyoaks actress - who earlier impressed the judges as she made her skating debut with partner Sylvain Longchambon - crashed out of the all-star tournament after polling the lowest number of votes from the public.
The double elimination also saw comedian Joe Pasquale's return to the show cut short after he lost out to Bonnie Langford in the first skate-off of the series.
Although Joe attempted to drum up laughs from the judges by reprising his Flash Gordon routine from 2013, the panel unanimously voted to save Bonnie, who performed to Baby It's Cold Outside in her bid to remain in the competition.
But while he appeared resigned to his fate, a tearful Jorgie seemed devastated to be out of the competition so soon - and was too overcome with emotion to speak afterwards.
Earlier in the show Jorgie scored 29 points out of a possible 40 from the judges, one of the top scores of the night behind Ray Quinn and Kyran Brackan.
Her routine to Icona Pop's I Love It also won praise from the panel, with Karen Barber calling the performance "brilliant, fast and exciting" and adding "This is the partnership for me with the most potential.
Jason Gardiner - who had not been a judge on Jorgie's previous series in 2012 - added: "At times I felt the choreography was doing you rather than the other way round."
Meanwhile in a bizarre turn of events Jason gave Joe Pasquale an impressive seven points for his comical routine to Mission Impossible - after the other judges all gave him 5.5.
The notoriously hard-to-please judge overlooked his questionable skating skills during the performance, telling him "the thing is you've actually improved".
Karen added: "You are entertainment value and it was absolutely fantastic."
Four other celebrities - Ray, Kyran, Hayley Tamaddon and Gareth Gates - made it straight through to the next round on the strength of the public vote.
Next weekend's Dancing On Ice will see the seven remaining competitors - who include 2012 champion Beth Tweddle and former EastEnder Todd Carty - skate for the first time this series.

Another write-up about last night. love Carol xxx He landed himself at the bottom of the leaderboard in the opening show of 2014’s Dancing On Ice, and this week he was determined to prove he was a contender in the competition. But unfortunately, Gareth Gates failed to impress the judges again with his second performance of the series. After taking a small tumble at the start of the routine, Gareth got himself a 7 from Robin, a 7 from Karen, a 6.5 from Ashley and a rather harsh 4.5 from Jason. Gareth failed to impress the judges for a second time (ITV Pictures) Jason defended his score by saying, ‘You still are on the forgettable side of playing it safe. You’re not upping your game.’ Ashley added, ‘It’s a tough competition so you’ve got to up your game.’ Karen was slightly more positive about Gareth’s performance, telling him, ‘You are improving.’ Although he admitted that 4.5 was a bit low, Gareth took his negative feedback pretty well. He said, ‘We’ll have to work harder.’ Oh Gareth, we still love you! Attachments:
